BRASSAI (1889-1984) (Gyula Halasz, known as) Henri Matisse and his model 1939. Silver photograph, print from the 1950s 23 x 29,5 cm stamp "Brassai, 81 rue du Faubourg Saint Jacques, Paris XIV°". Kodak stamps. Former collection François Gachot (1901-1986), former secretary of Jean Cocteau, was part of the circle of the New French Review, taught French at the Eötvös Kollégium, Budapest (1924-1926). - He was cultural attaché at the French Embassy in Hungary (1944-1949) and Hungarian translator into French. Annotation "Henri Matisse drawing in the room that served as his studio at the Lutetia Hotel in the summer of 1939, when he had as a model the Hungarian Vilma Javor Lervine from my short story "The Lovers of Budapest" which had appeared in the magazine Europe in August 1939.
