Angola, Congo Kinshasa. Beautiful Tchokwé face mask. H: 29 cm This PWO (woman) mask brings to life the first female ancestor in a matrilineal Tchokwé society. Beautiful scarification marks on the face, with a thin nasal wall. The half-open mouth reveals pointed teeth. The well-sculpted ears support two copper rings, and the headdress is made of walnut shell. This mask has a braided fiber net for fitting with the costume.
